Services by area

Our services in Dorset are provided by Dorset Community Transport (also known as DCT), which was launched in 2011

DCT has a fleet of approximately 50 vehicles, over half of which are wheelchair accessible. Our drivers are trained to the nationally-recognised and accredited MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) standard, which is administered by the Community Transport Association.

We operate across the entire county, with our offices based in Blandford Forum.

Local bus services

We operate minibuses on a number of local bus routes. Please check the routes below and catch the bus as you would a normal public bus service – there is no need to contact us to book (we are unable to accept bookings).

We currently operate the following local bus services:

  • 14 Marshwood and Thorncombe to Chard, via South Chard
  • 97 Fordingbridge to Ringwood, via Alderholt, Cranborne and Verwood *
  • 688 Thorncombe to Axminster, via Hawkchurch

*  Following Dorset County Council’s review of local bus service subsidies, and the withdrawal of funding for this service, DCT has undertaken to extend this service through until end of 2017.  Click here for the timetable.

Please note that concessionary passes are accepted on these services (in accordance with the entitlement and extensions determined by the respective local authority).

In the present climate of cut-backs your service is truly appreciated especially by older folk like myself who no longer drive. It is hoped that this service may long continue. Rosemary, Route 14
